Montreal on Top of Stars Conference East Division

The Montreal Royals have silenced their critics, backed up those who believed in them and won the Stars Conference East Division.
"You always think you've got a chance to win the division, but until you get it done you never really know how things are going to play out," said closer Jonathan Bell. "I think we're all grateful to get the chance to vie for the World Series."
It is the 7th division crown for the franchise and manager Bobby White said in a sporting landscape where you are judged by what you've most recently accomplished, "it feels incredibly good to be at the top of the pile."

Joilet Blanked by Gay

Today was Brian Gay's turn in the rotation for the Fremont Marshalls and he made the most of it, shutting out the Joilet Jesters on 6 hits.
The 26-year-old left-hander led the Marshalls to an easy 6-0 victory, allowing 1 walk and tallying 2 strikeouts.
"I hope we miss him next time," Joilet manager Hermenegildo Fernando said. "Gay certainly pitched a strong game against us today. He was in a groove, throwing everything for strikes. Throwing hard. Changing speeds."
This season, Gay has registered 10 wins and 10 losses in 27 starts with a 3.73 ERA.

Laredo Out of Time, Out of Playoffs

There might have been some flickers of hopes of a playoff berth at some point during the season, but those flickers have been snuffed out. The Laredo Ghosts were officially eliminated from playoff contention today.
This is the club's 6th playoff miss in a row. They last appeared in the postseason in 2020. In total, the Ghosts have missed the playoffs 17 times in their 27-year history. In the last 10 seasons, the Ghosts have made the playoffs 4 times.
