Orono's Flood Takes 2025 Most Valuable Player Award

Gene Flood, the talented Orono center fielder, certainly made his name known among Stripes Conference hurlers this season. He hammered them for 138 hits, 28 doubles, 2 triples, 14 home runs, 67 RBIs and scored 54 times. That kind of output made him the choice for Stripes Conference Most Valuable Player Award for 2025.

He received 10 first place votes out of a possible 24. Ty Beckford of the Hickory Crawdads finished second in voting with 6 first place votes, while Nate Sheridan of the Walnut Park Bobcats finished third with 6 first place votes.

Felipe Hinojos of the Portland Mad Ants proved that you can step out of the shadows and onto the stage if you've got the talent and the drive to hone your skills. Hard work, long hours and a tireless resolve paid off for him today in the form of the Stars Conference Most Valuable Player Award.

Hinojos hit for a .278 average while collecting 141 hits, 14 doubles, 1 triple, 37 home runs, 80 RBIs and scoring 86 times.

He received 18 first place votes out of a possible 24. Jonathan McElwain of the Portland Mad Ants finished second in voting with 4 first place votes, while Brian Hendrix of the Montreal Royals finished third with 2 first place votes.

The Orono Oaks have a rising superstar or maybe even a budding Hall-of-Famer in the making. It's Bill Frazer, this year's Stripes Conference Pitcher of the Year Award selection. This blossoming hurler wowed fans, peers and sportswriters with a fabulous performance.

Frazer compiled a 19-5 record in 29 starts, tallied 148 strikeouts in 213.1 innings and recorded a 1.90 ERA. Other clubs managed only a .243 batting average against him.

He received 23 first place votes out of a possible 24. Aaron O'Brien of the Spokane Selects finished second in voting with 1 first place vote, while Frank Sarabia of the Hickory Crawdads finished third.
