Canadiens Mathematically Out of Playoffs
Friday, August 16th , 2024
Fans of the Montreal Canadiens have long since given up hope of the club making a serious playoff push this season. But now those hopes are officially gone, as the club was mathematically eliminated from postseason contention today.
Montreal last appeared in the postseason in 2010. This is their 14th consecutive year missing the playoffs, and in total they have not advanced past the regular season 21 times in their 25-year history. Montreal last won the World Series in 2003.

Behind Bixby, Lubbock Blanks Nashville, 5-0
Wednesday, August 14th , 2024
Lubbock Stampede starter Brad Bixby really did a number on the Nashville Lasers, shutting them out, 5-0, on 7 hits in a complete game victory. He issued no walks and had 6 strikeouts.
"We didn't have good at-bats," said Nashville manager Kenny McElhaney. "I don't make excuses, but when we were playing the game, our energy didn't show. That comes from either extremely good pitching or extremely lousy hitting and seeing as our team has a bunch of good hitters, I have to tip my cap to Bixby."
Checking out his stats for the year, Bixby has racked up 12 wins and 3 losses in 19 starts, posted a 3.19 ERA, and struck out 117 batters in 135.1 innings.
