Pilots Hitless Against Horrocks

Spokane Selects starter Nick Horrocks said he was standing behind the mound when the scoreboard caught his eye, confirming what he already knew: He was one out from a no-hitter. For a couple of seconds, he didn't move.
"I took a breath and told myself 'This is the last one,'" Horrocks recalled.
The right-hander collected himself, got the final out, and finished one of the greatest performances of his career.
The Spokane right-hander no-hit the Denver Pilots, 3-0, at Selects Ballpark, finishing with 1 walks and 5 strikeouts, facing only 28 batters.
"I knew for a while it was a no-hitter," Horrocks admitted later. "But I really didn't worry about it until the last out. I thought I just wanted to win the game, and then I realized I wanted the no-hitter, too."
To date this year, Horrocks has fashioned a 2.61 ERA over 76 innings with a 8-2 record. He has made no relief appearances with 61 strikeouts and no saves.

Gomez 5-for-6 Against New Rochelle

Westwood defeated New Rochelle at Ballpark of Lexington. The star of the game for the Bruins was left fielder Armando Gomez. His hitting heroics included a 5-for-6 day, paving the way for Westwood's 6-4 triumph over the Purple Wave. Armando Gomez hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, grounded out in the 7th, singled in the 9th and singled in the 11th.
For the year, Gomez is hitting .304 with 12 home runs. His stats include 42 RBI and 57 runs scored.
