Marshalls Lose David Diaz

A blow for David Diaz today -- team doctors confirmed he will miss 4 months with a severely strained hip muscle. Diaz suffered the injury running the bases. Although officials from the Fremont Marshalls are confident he'll make a full recovery, doubts will persist about Diaz's ability to return fully fit with an injury of this nature.
For the year Diaz is batting .233 with 68 hits and 7 home runs. He has scored 32 times and driven in 36.

Royals Win League Championship Series

One thing is certain -- the Montreal Royals and Nashville Lasers left it all on the field.
In a back-and-forth League Championship Series that went to the final game, the Royals prevailed at Turtles Ballpark today to advance to the World Series. Montreal won the deciding game 8-4 to capture the series 4-3.
"In a series that close, you feel fortunate to come out on top of it," said Antonio Villareal, who was named series MVP.
