Hartford Sits Atop Stars Conference West Division

The Hartford Matadors clubhouse more closely resembled a college party tonight as the team officially captured the Stars Conference West Division.
Laughter abounded and loud music blared as players and coaches alike celebrated the accomplishment.
"It's not often you get to kick back and let loose with your teammates," said right fielder Dan Price. "We've earned the right to party a little bit. And then we can focus on getting it done in the playoffs."
Team manager Jesse Heugly said even the coaching staff can enjoy occasions like this.
"I'm proud of my guys, they deserve this," he said.
It's the 7th division championship for the team, and they will be seeking their 2nd ABA Development League championship.

5-Hit Blitz by Orono's Hoffmann

It was a sensational day at the plate for Jake Hoffmann as he led the charge to a nifty 6-5 win over the Crawdads. The Orono left fielder was pure misery for the Hickory pitching staff. He left them shell-shocked with 5 hits in 6 at-bats in an explosive display of hitting.
"Hoffmann put the ball into play and he really hit it hard," said Ray Sanchez, manager for the Crawdads, after the game. "When you do that, you've got a good chance to do some damage. And that's what happened. I feel like we threw some good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball."
Jake Hoffmann singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, grounded out in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and doubled in the 10th.
Hoffmann is currently hitting at a .262 pace with 3 home runs and 12 RBIs.
