Reliever Claims S-A Pitching Award

Tough in the clutch -- that's a bullpen specialist. And one of the best in the league is Ken Griffey of the Mexico City Aztecs. Griffey was outstanding in June and was named the Pitcher of the Month in the Southern A.
Mexico City's star reliever held the opposition to a .158 average and put up 6 saves and 14 strikeouts in 10.1 innings with a 3-0 mark and a 2.61 ERA.
To this point in the season Griffey has 13 saves in 19 relief appearances with a 3-1 record and 2.53 ERA.

June's Pitcher of the Month Goes to Amos

It was a sensational June for Greg Amos as he mystified, mesmerized and terrorized opposing batters to capture the Northern A Pitcher of the Month trophy.
Amos locked down a 5-0 mark in 5 starts last month, striking out 23 while walking 10 in 36 innings and posting a 0.75 ERA.
This year, Amos has made 15 starts, thrown 92.2 innings, fanned 79 batters and walked 26. His won-lost record is 11-3 with a 2.14 ERA.

S-A's Best Batter Selected

When Omar Snell stepped up to the plate in June he did it with confidence, and today he was honored with the Southern A Batter of the Month award.
The young Mexico City left fielder posted a .389 batting average with 6 home runs, 20 RBIs and scored 26 runs. Snell also worked pitchers for 8 walks to post a .436 on-base percentage.
In the current season, Snell has put up a .331 batting average with 99 hits, 15 home runs, 47 RBI and scored 61 runs.
