Another Setback for Charleston's Cole Calkins
Saturday, September 25th , 2021
Charleston received another blow today when doctors revealed that Shiners first baseman Cole Calkins had suffered a setback in his recovery and will miss additional time because of a mild hamstring strain. Calkins has been nearing his projected return date, but now that will be pushed back one week.
On the year, Calkins has hit .250 with 16 home runs, 66 RBIs and scored 90 runs.

Wild Card Clinched by Desperados

While you set out to win a division each year, members of the Austin Desperados seemed plenty satisfied with their place as American Conference wild card winners.
"The American Conference South Division crown would have been great, but we're still in a better spot than all the teams that are going home after the regular season is over," said starting pitcher Sam Campos. "You can't complain."
There was certainly no complaining going on as the Desperados clubhouse was filed with loud music and even louder celebrations following the postseason clinch.

Giants Clinch Wild Card
Friday, September 24th , 2021
The "ultimate goal" remains in reach for the Devin Wickliffe and the Detroit Giants.
The American Conference North East Division squad today captured a wild card berth and Wickliffe said the team's plan is simple.
"Get to the playoffs, win the World Series," he said. "If that's not your goal as a American Baseball Association team, I don't know what's wrong with you."
If the Giants were to win the World Series, it would be the 4th championship trophy in franchise history.
