It's Over! Halifax Defeats Charleston
Monday, November 2nd , 2026
The Halifax Heathens earned their 2nd World Series title and now have all winter to spend basking in the glory, while the beaten Charleston Sea Dogs will have plenty of time to wonder what went wrong.
Halifax became the American Baseball Association champion for 2026 with a 6-3 triumph to capture the series 4-3.
"Both clubs are talented. We just made fewer mistakes than they did," winning manager David Morris said to the press corps at the postgame press conference. "We made the crucial plays and got the timely hits."
Charleston skipper Sang-ton Che agreed with that assessment, saying his club turned out to be "a little weak on fundamentals" at crucial times.
"I have a sneaking suspicion we will be working on fundamentals a lot next spring," he said.
On the way to the World Series championship, the Heathens ended up in first place in the American Conference South Division and compiled a 97-65 record during the regular season.

Setback for Heathens and Chance Smith
Monday, November 2nd , 2026
Halifax Heathens second baseman Chance Smith got another setback today. His doctors informed him that his injury was not responding to treatment as well as they hoped and that he would need more time to rehabilitate. If all goes well, they expect Smith to be ready to go within one week. He told BNN, "I didn't expect a bruised thigh to take this long to heal."
So far this year, Smith is batting .259 with 15 home runs.
