Marauders Blank Charleston, Mendoza Winner

Philadelphia hurler Juan Mendoza put on quite a show, as he blitzed the Charleston Shiners with a 4-0 shutout. He baffled them with fastballs and changeups, allowing 2 hits with 6 strikeouts and 1 walk to pick up the win.

"I think every time we were looking for a fastball, he threw a changeup and every time we were looking for a changeup, he threw a fastball," Charleston manager Chad Hart told reporters after the game.

On the season, Mendoza has compiled a 3-6 mark with a 2.64 ERA in 10 starts. In pitching 78.1 innings he has 41 strikeouts and 13 walks while limiting the opposition to a .244 batting average.

Woods Tosses 5-0 Shutout Against Charleston

The Philadelphia Marauders rolled to an easy 5-0 win over the Charleston Shiners at Ballpark of Charleston. Leading the way was starter Dan Woods, who limited the Charleston Shiners to 3 hits.

"This is what every pitcher wants to do when they go out there," Woods said in his postgame press conference.

This season, Woods has earned 0 saves, tossed 62.2 innings, made no relief appearances, fanned 32 hitters and posted an ERA of 3.88. Teams are hitting .245 against him.
