Gruver Twirls 10-0 Shutout
Wednesday, July 26th , 2023
Corey Gruver of the San Diego Fleet shut down the Tampa Bay Captains, 10-0, on 6 hits, while ringing up 8 strikeouts and allowing 1 walk.
After the game Gruver said, "Guys have been fouling off a lot of pitches lately and I've been getting into too many deep pitch counts, but I'm pleased with the way things went today. I went right after them and stayed ahead in the count."
His record this season is 10-7 in 22 starts and Gruver has a 4.32 ERA.

Tampa Bay's Shrum to Miss Season
Monday, July 24th , 2023
A blow for Matt Shrum today -- team doctors confirmed he will miss 4-5 months with a broken bone in the elbow. Shrum suffered the injury being hit by a pitch. Although officials from the Tampa Bay Captains are confident he'll make a full recovery, doubts will persist about Shrum's ability to return fully fit with an injury of this nature.
Shrum is batting .284 this season in 31 games with 3 home runs, 16 RBIs and 12 runs scored. He has 27 hits in 95 at-bats.
