Surber Named Top Reliever for SL1 Sunday, June 9th , 2024 Tim Surber said he thinks hitters often underestimate him, as he's only 20 years old. But he'll certainly be getting a lot more respect now, as the Minnesota Golden Gophers rising star has won the Conference 1 Reliever of the Year Award for 2024. He captured the award on the strength of his 1.57 ERA over 28.2 innings. He also had 4 saves in 26 relief appearances, 39 strikeouts and only 8 walks. He received 53 first place votes out of a possible 56. Lorenzo Landin of the Purdue Boilermakers finished second in voting with 3 first place votes, while Josh Hunter of the UCLA Bruins finished third.
