Greyhounds Move on to Round 2

ABA High School pundits who figured the Round 1 between the Pope High School Greyhounds and North Oconee High School Titans would go the distance were right on the mark.

The two teams battled back and forth in a spirited series, with Pope High School coming out on top thanks to a 1-0 win in the deciding game at North Oconee High School Stadium, to wrap things up 4-3.

"You get to the last game and anything can happen, so we're overjoyed to come out on top," said Greyhounds catcher Matt Freeland, who was named series MVP.

For the series, Freeland had 11 hits for a .407 average. He had 1 home runs, 4 RBI and scored 3 runs.

The Pope High School Greyhounds will play against the Trinity Christian Academy Conquerors in the next round. Trinity Christian Academy won their series against the Wesleyan High School Wolves 4 games to 3. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.

Sinton High School Takes Round 1 in Deciding Game

It was a rousing finish to the Round 1 at Sinton Pirates Baseball Stadium today.

The Sinton High School Pirates sent the Villa Park High School Spartans home for the season with a 9-1 win in the decisive game of the series.

The Pirates took the series 4-3. Up next on their schedule is the Round 2.

Hauling in the MVP trophy was Sinton High School center fielder Rafael Farrand. His numbers included a .367 batting average, 5 RBIs and 5 runs.

"With any luck, I'll be hoisting another one of these at the end of the Round 2," he said.

The Sinton High School Pirates will play against the Notre Dame High School Knights in the next round. Notre Dame High School won their series against the Cypress High School Centurions 4 games to 2. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.

Conquerors Advance to Round 2

When the entire season comes down to one game, Mark David said you find out what a team is really about.

As it turns out, the Trinity Christian Academy Conquerors are made of fight and tenacity, as the team got by the Wesleyan High School Wolves 7-4 tonight at Stampede Park in order to win the Round 1 and book a place in the next round.

"It wasn't hard to get excited for this game," said David, whose strong offensive output earned him MVP honors. "Our guys answered the call and proved a lot about what our team is all about."

David hit .516 with a .559 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 4 RBI and scored 6 runs.

The Trinity Christian Academy Conquerors don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Pope High School Greyhounds - North Oconee High School Titans series. That series is tied at 3 games apiece. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
