Panthers Move on to Round 2
Saturday, May 13th , 2023
Sam Holcomb sparked his Parkview High School Panthers past the pesky Cypress High School Centurions in a closely-contested Round 1.

Parkview High School topped Cypress High School 8-3 at Hugh Buchanan Field to decide the series, 4-1

For his efforts, Holcomb was rewarded with the series MVP trophy for his .400 batting average, 6 RBIs and 7 runs scored.

"You never want to leave anything on the field," Holcomb said. "You never want to miss a play of defense you could have made, or give up an extra base you could have gotten, because in a series this tight you never know what you'll need to win."

The Parkview High School Panthers don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the De La Salle High School Spartans - Taravella High School Trojans series. Taravella High School leads the series 3 games to 2. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
Lopez Goes Cycling
Tuesday, May 9th , 2023
Today at Buccaneer Baseball Field, Woodstock High School Wolverines left fielder Juan Lopez accomplished a true baseball rarity, knocking a single, double, triple and a home run to hit for the cycle and lead the Wolverines to a win, 8-5, over the Allatoona High School Buccaneers.

In a standout performance, Lopez laced 4 hits in 5 at-bats and had 4 runs batted in.

"I felt good before the game, I felt good during it, and I feel great now," Lopez told reporters.

Juan Lopez singled in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Joe Giunta in the 3rd, tripled in the 6th, struck out in the 8th and hit a two-run double in the 9th.

Thus far this year, Lopez is hitting .351 with 15 home runs, 41 RBIs and 31 runs scored.
Wolverines McCall Injured
Monday, May 8th , 2023
The Woodstock High School Wolverines learned that Mike McCall is likely to be out for 5 months after he injured himself throwing a pitch in today's game against the Allatoona High School Buccaneers. A round of tests by the team doctor revealed the injury to be bone chips in his elbow. Upon hearing the diagnosis, the Woodstock High School manager told the press, "As you all know, we can't control injuries -- they are a part of the game. We just have to do the best we can until Mike is back in action."

McCall's record this year is 1-and-0 with no saves and a 5.23 ERA. He has given up 20 hits in 20.2 innings with 21 strikeouts.
