Great Day for Gavin -- 5 Hits
Friday, August 25th , 2023
Getting 5 hits in a game has always been memorable feat in baseball. In the Bangor's 12-2 win over Louisville, center fielder Ken Gavin was red-hot, scorching them for hit after hit at Ballpark of Bangor.
"To hit the ball consistently well, you have to relax," Gavin said afterward. "I was relaxed for the first four hits, but I have to admit, I got a little tight when I realized I had a chance for five. On the last at-bat, I was ready to swing at anything close."
Ken Gavin hit a two-run home run off Daniel Williams in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Daniel Williams in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Mark Kurzawski in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
Looking at his season stats, Gavin has compiled a .308 batting average and a .371 on-base percentage, while hitting 33 home runs and driving in 102 runs.
