Top S-A Reliever Honored Sunday, October 18th , 2020 Ivan Garay was a calming influence out of the White Deer Tropics bullpen this season. His teammates and manager said he had a poised demeanor about him that was typical of someone much older and more experienced. His poise has paid off, as the 24-year-old turned in a sparkling season and has been named the winner of the Southern A Reliever of the Year Award for 2020. The Barahona, Dominican Republic native won the award with 31 saves in 66 relief appearances, 72 strikeouts in 87.2 innings and a record of 7-5 to go with his 0.92 ERA. He received 24 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Garrett Nance of the Poplar Bluff Hillbillies finished second in voting, while Tommy LaBiche of the Barrie Admirals finished third.
