Relief Ace Cops #1 Pitcher Award in August Wednesday, September 1st , 2021 It doesn't happen often, but it did in August. A reliever, Steve Cates, is the recipient of the Southern A Pitcher of the Month award. The Hillbillies bullpen ace starred with no saves in no relief appearances with a 5-1 record, logging 58.1 innings, 53 strikeouts, 12 walks and a 2.31 ERA. This season, Cates has chalked up a 3.48 ERA while ringing up no saves with 13 wins and 8 losses. He has made no relief appearances, pitching 196.2 innings, giving up 148 hits, and holding opponents to a .206 batting average. Cates has also recorded 202 strikeouts and allowed 41 walks. |
