Whatley on Fire, 5-for-5 Against Bangor Thursday, May 15th , 2025 There are moments in a player's career that they will not soon forget. Matt Whatley of the Long Beach Keys had one such moment at Long Beach Grounds, when he went 5 for 5 at the plate. His hitting heroics weren't enough to pull out the victory, however, and Long Beach succumbed to defeat, 12-5, to the Bangor Lumberjacks. "This was quite a day for me individually, but a little disheartening at the same time," the 24-year-old third baseman told reporters in the postgame interview. "It would have been very special if we had won the game." Matt Whatley singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
