5-Hit Game for Gaffney Saturday, July 3rd , 2021 Long Beach shortstop Mike Gaffney had a big day at Long Beach Grounds against the Lake Elsinore Storm. The 24-year-old, who is not typically considered a big threat with the bat, went 5-for-5 and led to the 14-2 Keys triumph over Lake Elsinore. "Hey, I'm as surprised as you guys are," Gaffney said in his postgame comments, smiling as he scolded the press corps for underestimating him. "Maybe I'm not so bad at the plate after all." Mike Gaffney singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.
