Way on Fire: 6-for-7 for Laredo
Tuesday, May 4th , 2021
A jubilant Jake Way joined the postgame press conference at Ballpark of Newport News to offer some unusual words of encouragement -- for the Little Rock Governors pitching staff he had just vanquished.
"It may not have looked like it," said the Laredo Ghosts left fielder, "but I saw some awful good pitches today. If luck hadn't been on my side it might have turned out a lot different."
That would not have been the conclusion of anyone who saw his dominant 6-for-7 hitting performance, which led to the 15-6 Ghosts win.
"He made it look easy," said Felipe Arriaga, manager of the Governors. "We never figured out what to do with him. Obviously."
Jake Way flied out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, singled in the 7th, hit a two-run single in the 8th and doubled in the 9th.
To date Way has chalked up a .284 average with 2 home runs, driven in 9 runs and scored 12 times.
