Oaks Win World Series Sunday, October 15th , 2023 A celebratory mood filled the air as the Orono Oaks closed out the season with a 4-3 victory over the Joilet Jesters at Ballpark of Joilet to capture the World Series, 4-3. Giving the Jesters credit for a hard-fought series, Oaks players said they believed throughout the postseason that their "destiny" was to be crowned ABA Development League champions. "We felt like this was our year all season long," said right fielder Tyler Tolbert, who was named series MVP. "It was our destiny to win it and we did." It was the 3rd in franchise history. During the Stripes Conference East Division regular season Orono put up a 82-62 record and finished first. "They're the champions and they deserve it," said a dejected Joilet manager Felipe Arriaga.
