Clare Torches Raccoons for 5 Hits Tuesday, July 9th , 2024 Jason Clare was smoking all game at the plate, but couldn't finish his day with a victory cigar. After the 21-year-old New Rochelle Purple Wave second baseman tallied 5 hits in 5 at-bats, he was forced to watch as his club dropped the 9-7 decision to the Tucson Raccoons. "That was no fun," Clare said to reporters after the game. "You hate to lose any game but it's even worse somehow to feel like you did enough to win." Jason Clare doubled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th. So far this season, Clare has no home runs and a .349 batting average.
