Royals Heading to League Championship Series Tuesday, September 28th , 2021 The Montreal Royals and Portland Mad Ants put on a classic Division Series that was in question until the final game. In the end, Montreal won the deciding contest by a score of 14-0, to take the series 4-3. "It doesn't get much tighter than that. To win a series in the last game is a thrill," said D.J. Van Diest, who earned series MVP honors for Montreal. "Our guys are breathing a little easier now." For the series, Van Diest hit .333 with a .438 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 5 RBI and scored 6 runs. The Montreal Royals will play against the Hartford Matadors in the next round.
