Nashville Helpless Against Gomez, Lose 7-0 Monday, May 26th , 2025 Alex Gomez of the Montreal Royals was on top of his game. The 26-year-old tantalized the Nashville Lasers with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest, shutting them out, 7-0. "He had the changeup working," Nashville manager Kenny McElhaney said in postgame comments. "You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower." The Montreal hurler had 12 strikeouts, gave up 1 walk and surrendered 4 hits in his complete-game effort. Gomez told reporters after the game that "keeping the ball down is the key to being successful in this league." "If you don't do that, they'll make you pay," he said.
