Z's Turn Back Oaks, 1-0
|
The Ann Arbor Z's got a magnificent effort from pitcher Mike Montoya, who kept Orono hitters in check en route to a 1-0 Z's win at Knights Ballpark. Montoya yielded no runs over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 0, and struck out 9. His record improves to 6-8. Josh Kuhn earned the save for Ann Arbor, his 12th.
Ann Arbor center fielder Jeff Wise contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a fastball to left-center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 133rd hit of the season and put the Z's ahead, 1-0.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Wise. "And not try to do too much."
The triumph puts Ann Arbor at 68-55 for the season.
