Bruins Earn 3-2 Win Against Heat
|
At Heat Ballpark, the Westwood Bruins edged the Palm Springs Heat, 3-2, in 11 innings. Westwood shortstop Alec Pavelka, who jolted 1 home run, was a key contributor. The win hiked the Westwood record to 62-58.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Robby Penland? The 31-year old third baseman Penland stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the 11th inning to put Westwood up, 3-2. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
"The game of baseball will test you," said Hasan Raif, the Westwood skipper. "This one tested us."
