Westwood Sends Quebec Packing with 5-2 Loss
|
Riding the 3-hit performance of the 29-year old left fielder Jon Wagner, the Westwood Bruins stopped the Quebec Aces, 5-2, in 9 innings. Brian Underwood earned the win to go to 3-11. He allowed 2 runs on 7 hits, with no walks and 1 strikeout in 6 innings of work. Westwood leads the Stripes Conference East Division by 3½ games.
Tony Thomas, who is tied for 9th in the StC in triples with 4, took Quebec hurler Brian Prince deep in the bottom of the fourth. His 2-run home run put the Bruins on top, 2-1. In all, Thomas had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"We're all about heart and hustle on this team. That's what wins ballgames," Wagner told the Westwood Today.
