Storm Squelch Tropics Offense in Shutout Win
|
The Lake Elsinore Storm faced a tough opponent in White Deer pitcher Nate Roberson, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Dust Devils Ballpark by a final score of 3-0. Roberson went 7.1 innings and allowed 3 runs. Lake Elsinore pitcher Bob Paterson earned the win, hiking his record to 2-2. Nate Roberson suffered the loss. Picking up the save was Willie Lopez, his 4th.
The Tropics had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Storm going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 22-year old third baseman Jose Fraire came to the plate. Fraire hit a 2-run home run on a 2-2 changeup from White Deer hurler Nate Roberson. It was Fraire's 2nd home run of the year.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Fraire told a Lake Elsinore Chronicle reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
The win gives the Storm a record of 28-96.
