Marshalls Earn Win with Late Rally
University of Maine Stadium hosted an old-fashioned pitchers' duel.

The Fremont Marshalls locked up a win at University of Maine Stadium, knocking off the Orono Oaks, 2-1. On the mound for Fremont was left-hander Chris Mattison. He played a major role in the triumph. Dave Hernandez was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 3 of 3 save opportunities.

Fremont used the timely hitting of Paul Kuhns to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Marshalls on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"Every loss hurts," said Orono manager Mike Sanchez. "But this was a tough one."

Fremont leads the Stripes Conference East Division by 3 games.
