Purple Wave Stick Indians with 8-6 Loss
|
The New Rochelle Purple Wave weathered a fine game by Dillonvale second baseman Heath Corkum to upend the Indians, 8-6, at Ballpark of Lexington. Corkum was 3-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. New Rochelle starter Pat Hiltner was credited with the win after throwing 85 pitches over 7.1 innings. His record now stands at 2-1. Earning the save was Mike Dean. He's now cashed in 14 of 15 save opportunities.
The Purple Wave got a big hit from right fielder Skyler Swan. Facing Dillonvale pitcher Jim Unknown in the bottom of the eighth, Swan pounded a bases-clearing triple to center. His 1st triple of the season put the Purple Wave ahead, 6-2.
"We came out with clear minds and swung the bats well," said New Rochelle manager Zach Freeman.
New Rochelle is now 45-51. Dillonvale is 19-77.
