Purple Wave Pull Off Thrilling 4-2 Win in Extras
|
Jackie Robinson Stadium was the site of a competitive game between the Westwood Bruins and New Rochelle Purple Wave.
The New Rochelle Purple Wave defeated the Westwood Bruins, 4-2, in 13 innings in Stripes Conference action at Jackie Robinson Stadium. New Rochelle pitcher Kevin Clinger had a standout performance. The save went to Brian Orms, number 1 for him.
New Rochelle used the timely hitting of Victor Lopez to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the 13th inning to put the Purple Wave on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"Took some scratching and clawing," said Lopez. "But we got it done."
The loss makes Westwood 43-45.
