Tight Tilt Goes to Bobcats, 3-2
|
Walnut Park got a strong outing from Earl Gomez as the Bobcats defeated the Orono Oaks, 3-2, at University of Maine Stadium. Gomez, now 2-0, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing no runs. The Bobcats have now won 4 straight.
The Bobcats got a big at-bat from designated hitter Bob Gilmore. For the game, Gilmore belted 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. In the top of the first, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Walnut Park a 2-0 lead.
"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Walnut Park manager Hua Pian.
