The Westwood Bruins beat the Walnut Park Bobcats, 7-3, at Jackie Robinson Stadium. The win was due in part to first baseman Mike MacPherson, who went 3-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 3 runs. Tom Balletta got the win, improving to 6-6. He held the Bobcats to 2 runs on 4 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 7 and walking 1. Westwood now has a record of 38-36 with the win.
The Bruins got a big at-bat from center fielder Jon Wagner. For the game, Wagner went 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 5th home run of the season gave Westwood a 4-2 lead.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," MacPherson said after the game.
