Owens Helps Keys Defeat Werewolves, 7-2
|
The exploits of left fielder Dustin Owens, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2024 draft, helped the Long Beach Keys defeat the London Werewolves, 7-2. Owens went 3-5 with 2 home runs, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. Jonathan Sites was the winner. Over 6 innings, he yielded 1 run on 6 hits, with 1 walk and 5 strikeouts. Aaron Santiago picked up the save, his 1st.
With Long Beach leading 1-0 in the top of the fourth, Brett McAdams hit a run-scoring single off London pitcher Matt Haskins. It put the Keys ahead 2-0.
"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," Owens told the Long Beach Times. "I know I'll rest easy tonight."
The Keys now own a record of 33-59.
