With first baseman Jeff Ciervo leading the charge, the Mexico City Aztecs defeated the Bangor Lumberjacks, 11-2, at Tony Gwynn Stadium. Ciervo, who is tied for 3rd in the S-A with a 1.122 OPS, was 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. The Aztecs, at 55-22, have now won 5 straight.

Ciervo contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Mexico City in the bottom of the second. With his team trailing 1-0, Ciervo took a fastball from Carlos Loera and stroked the home run to left. His 18th home run of the season allowed the Aztecs to leap in front, 2-1.

"Our approach was just to try to see something over the plate and be aggressive," Ciervo told the Mexico City Chronicle.
