Mexico City Dismisses Atlanta, 8-5
|
Atlanta got a terrific game from left fielder Caleb Herendeen. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Mexico City, 8-5. Herendeen went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Josh DeYoe earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. He upped his record to 6-0. Ken Griffey notched his 16th save of the season.
Mexico City used a clutch hit from Colin Burke to get the win. The center fielder drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Aztecs ahead, 6-5. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a doozy.
"This team keeps racking up the wins," said Aztecs manager Tony Velez.
The first-place Aztecs have won 7 in a row.
