Willie Lopez never let the Tropics get in a groove. The left-hander used his bread and butter, his fastball, to pitch the Storm to a win, 4-1. Jesus Hernandez got the save, the 1st for him this season. "Lousy" describes the White Deer performance in the early going.

With one out in the top of the fifth, Jamie Hickey put Lake Elsinore in front, 1-0, with a run-scoring single. The Storm went on to win the ballgame.

"Willie's stuff looked really, really crisp," said Bobby Vargas, the Storm manager.
