Welsh hits 2 home runs to Fuel Bruins Offense
|
Jon Welsh batted in 3 runs to lead Westwood to a win over Palm Springs. The final score was 4-3. Welsh chipped in 1 single and 2 home runs. Roy McLain, the winner, improved to 1-2. He held Palm Springs to 2 runs on 5 hits over 8 innings, while racking up 7 strikeouts. Brad Antol was called on to finish, recording his 3rd save.
Welsh made an early impact for Westwood when he stroked his 2nd home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which came in the bottom of the second, put the Bruins on top, 3-1.
"Winning is hard sometimes," said Bruins manager Hasan Raif. "This one was nice to get."
The win brings the Bruins to 5-15, an awful start for a team that made the playoffs just last season.
