Bobcats Get Clutch Win, 1-0
|
Westwood got a valiant performance from pitcher John Blackman, but it wasn't enough to beat the Walnut Park Bobcats. Walnut Park won the game, 1-0. Blackman threw 8.0 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. Reliever Tommy Swift picked up the win. His record improves to 1-1. Brad Antol took the loss. Westwood is now 2-6.
Ken Kirkland had a direct impact on the outcome. Kirkland contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the ninth inning to put Walnut Park up, 1-0.
"Bottom line," said Westwood skipper Hasan Raif, "we didn't play well enough to win."
