Montreal turned a good effort from starter Lee Morgan into a win over the Joilet Jesters at Turtles Ballpark. The Royals won the game, 3-2. The winner was Morgan. He threw 8.0 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Barry McLamb. Montreal is third in the Stars Conference East Division with a record of 77-67.
Mike Odendahl had a big run-scoring double for the Royals in the bottom of the third inning. With Montreal leading 2-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from Barry McLamb, who is tied for 4th in the SC in quality starts with 18, and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 16th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Royals ahead, 3-0.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Montreal manager Bobby White said.
