Governors Win at Home, 4-2
|
The Little Rock Governors locked up a win at Ballpark of Newport News, knocking off the Montreal Royals, 4-2. On the mound for Little Rock was right-hander Brian Norfolk. He played a major role in the triumph. Norfolk, now 10-13, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Steve Cates converted his 26th save in 28 tries.
The Governors got a big at-bat from shortstop Chris Denney. For the game, Denney was 1 for 3 with a double. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 9th double of the season gave Little Rock a 2-1 lead.
"I'm just trying to make sure I'm focused for each and every pitch," said Norfolk.
The win elevated the Governors to 79-64.
