Carter Pounds 2 Homers in 8-7 Lasers Win
|
No one was more impactful than Gregg Carter in the 8-7 Nashville win over Baxter Springs. Carter, who is tied for 4th in the SC in extra base hits with 51, went 3 for 5 with 2 home runs, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3. Harry Bowman picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 4-1. Steven Hyatt suffered the loss. Joe Faulkner was credited with the save, his 13th in 16 tries.
Had Matt Kuperberg not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Kuperberg hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 8-7, in favor of the Lasers.
"Glad to get this win," said Kuperberg. "But we need to keep playing at a high level."
Baxter Springs has now lost 5 in a row.
