Stampede Suffer 7-5 Home Defeat

The Chesapeake Tailgators beat the Lubbock Stampede, 7-5. Chesapeake pitcher and Sunland Park, New Mexico, native Lance Goecker led the way. Goecker, now 2-5, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 6, walking 4, and allowing 2 runs. Picking up his 13th save was 28-year old right-handed pitcher Mike Criswell.
Chesapeake took control in the top of the sixth. With no one out and the bases loaded, Curt Stein hit a run-scoring single to make it 3-2, Tailgators.
"Just glad I could help us get a win," said Goecker.
The win makes Chesapeake 64-75.
