Win Streak Now at 6 for Governors
|
The Little Rock Governors got a marvelous performance from pitcher Rick Hill. The right-hander kept the Chesapeake offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 4-2 Little Rock victory at Ballpark of Newport News. Hill, now 10-0, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 4, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. Little Rock has now won 6 games in a row.
Kyle Bailey had a big 2-run home run for the Governors in the bottom of the third inning. With Little Rock leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Humberto Lopez and punished it. The result was his 15th home run of the season, which put the Governors on top, 3-0.
After the game, Little Rock manager Felipe Arriaga applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
