The Nashville Lasers had to overcome a good performance from Chesapeake pitcher Lance Goecker to claim a 3-2 win at Tailgators Ballpark. Goecker went 6.1 innings and allowed 1 run. The Lasers win now puts them at 72-57.
Joe Cross had a direct impact on the outcome. Cross contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth inning to put Nashville up, 3-2.
"We busted our tails," said Chesapeake manager Dave York. "But we came up short."
