Royals Lose Late to Ghosts
|
Montreal got a terrific performance from pitcher Jim Murphy, but it wasn't enough to beat the Laredo Ghosts. Laredo won the Ghosts Ballpark contest, 6-4. Murphy threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Andrew Braden picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 8-9. Nick Wolfe was tagged with the loss. Joe Iverson picked up his 2nd save of the season.
Laredo third baseman Jose Sanchez delivered a 2-run home run in the bottom of the eighth. Overall, he went 3 for 4, including 1 home run, 1 single, and 1 double. He scored 1 run and batted in 2.
"Not the sexiest win," said Ghosts manager Josh Miller, "but I'll take it."
The Ghosts go to 52-66, putting them last in the Stars Conference West Division.
