Muskies Prevail, 2-1, Over Chesapeake
|
Mike Hammond was on the winning side of a pitcher's duel at Tailgators Ballpark. In fact, the Glendale Muskies right-hander was instrumental in his team's 2-1 victory over the Chesapeake Tailgators. Hammond, now 1-0, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Ivan Medina notched his 22nd save in 25 chances.
Glendale used the hitting of Chris Stanifer to pick up the win. The left fielder clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Muskies on top, 2-1. For the game, Stanifer had 1 home run and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"Mike didn't beat around the bush," said Glendale field general Jermaine Allen. "He was all business."
The triumph puts Glendale at 62-55 for the season.
