The Hartford Matadors used a great performance from 27-year old right-handed pitcher Joe Stanley to beat the Nashville Lasers, 2-0, at Lasers Ballpark. The Lasers, at 61-55, have lost 4 in a row.
In the top of the third inning, first baseman Steve Doyle had a 2-run home run for Hartford. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Matadors on top, 2-0.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Nashville skipper Kenny McElhaney, "and it cost us."
