Hurler Nick Douglass gave the Chesapeake Tailgators a solid start. The native of University Park, Texas helped his team defeat the Nashville Lasers, 3-2, at Lasers Ballpark. Jeff Tracy was called on to finish, recording his 1st save. Chesapeake, at 47-67, sits in 4th place in the Stars Conference East Division.
Chesapeake took advantage of an error in the top of the seventh inning. The game was tied, 2-2, when T.J. Arnold hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put the Tailgators in front, 3-2.
"Nick's not intimidated by who's stepping into the batter's box," said Chesapeake manager Dave York.
