Salas Steals Spotlight, But Last Laugh Belongs to Joilet
|
The Joilet Jesters besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Montreal first baseman Sam Salas by beating the Royals, 6-5, at Ballpark of Joilet. Salas was 3-3 with 2 home runs, a double, and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Micah Morgan picked up the win in relief. Frank Yanez took the loss for Montreal. Kyle O'Hare recorded the save, his 5th.
Bobby Shrader, who is tied for 2nd in the SC in bases on balls with 50, helped out the Joilet cause in the bottom of the seventh inning with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. For the game, the catcher was 1 for 2. He drove in 3 runs.
Shrader called winning a team effort. "It's not the same guy every time," he said. "It's the sum of the parts."
The win lifted the Joilet record to 57-54.
