Portland turned a fine outing from starter Jaheim Jennings into a victory over the Montreal Canadiens at Oilers Ballpark. The final score was 4-2. Picking up the save was Kevin Kovach. He's now 22 for 24 in save chances. Montreal has now lost 12 straight.
It could have been a different outcome for Portland, had it not been for Jonathan McElwain, the 24-year old designated hitter . McElwain contributed a solo home run in the top of the fourth inning to put Portland up, 2-0.
"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said McElwain.
