Tailgators 2, Jesters 1
|
Starting pitcher Tom Thompson gave the Chesapeake Tailgators a rock-solid effort. The Lowell, Massachusetts native helped his team defeat the Joilet Jesters, 2-1, at Tailgators Ballpark. In 6 innings, Thompson surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. Mike Criswell got the save, his 6th in 7 chances.
Neil Bowman drove in one run for Chesapeake. The 25-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Steve Cates. It was his 1st RBI of the season.
"You have to trust that what you're doing is going to produce results," said Thompson.
The 4th-place Tailgators hiked their record to 44-58.
