Dedicated fans weathered the storm to watch their beloved Lasers beat the Ghosts.
The Nashville Lasers beat the Laredo Ghosts, 5-4, in part because of designated hitter Ben Rayburn. He went 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Nashville pitcher Malcolm Slater got the win, upping his record to 7-6. Paul Reining got the loss. Jaden Melrose recorded the save, making him 7 for 11.
Jose Duarte went 1-3 for Nashville. The slugging center fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Bill Reno. It was his 32nd RBI of the season.
Duarte told reporters after the game: "This one was touch and go, but we were able to put it in the win column."
The win for the Lasers lifted their record to 53-40.
