Multi-HR Day for Maughan as Tailgators Overpower Matadors, 8-7
|
The Chesapeake Tailgators topped the Hartford Matadors, 8-7, at Ballpark of Tacoma. Chesapeake center fielder Trey Maughan was a spark plug for the offense. He was 3-3 with 2 home runs and 2 walks, while scoring 4 and driving in 4. Mike Criswell, credited with the save, is now 1 for 1 in save opportunities. The 'W' lifts Chesapeake's record to 38-51.
Rialto, California-born Jimmy Bauer came through in the clutch. In the top of the ninth, with the bases loaded and the Tailgators trailing 7-6, he hit a 2-run single to center to put Chesapeake on top.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Bauer said.
