Governors Need Extra Innings to Top Aces, 3-1
|
It took 10 innings, but the Little Rock Governors were able to beat the Quebec Aces, 3-1, at Belmont Park. Alain Arnaud provided some offensive muscle for Little Rock. He belted 2 home runs. Reliever Pat Eisen picked up the win. His record improves to 5-1. Chris Foore, who is tied for 2nd in the SC in saves with 21, took the loss. The loss makes Quebec 49-39.
Little Rock used the timely hitting of Chris Denney to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Governors on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
During his postgame press conference, Governors manager Felipe Arriaga told reporters that he expected a tight game from the get-go. "This had the potential to go down to the wire, and it certainly didn't disappoint," he said, later quipping, "it might've been a little less nerve-racking if I had been watching the game from my couch!"
