Mad Ants Get Past Hartford for 4-3 Win
The Hartford Matadors got a sterling performance from pitcher Nate Benson, but the Portland Mad Ants still prevailed, 4-3. Benson threw 6.1 innings of shutout ball. Dane Roberts, credited with the win in relief, is now 1-5. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 0.2 innings. Wayne Harless earned the save for Portland, his 4th.

Portland took the lead, 4-3, on Jonathan McElwain's 4th home run of the season. The 3-run home run came off Hartford pitcher Michael Hatten in the bottom of the eighth.

"We played a good game and came out on top," said McElwain.

The win gives Portland a season record of 45-37.
