The Montreal Canadiens topped the Joilet Jesters, 6-4, with youngster Steve Kettle playing a key role. Kettle went 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Canadiens in the win. Jeremy Davila, who is tied for 10th in the SC in holds with 5, earned the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. He upped his record to 4-2. The triumph makes Montreal 26-53.

Kettle contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Montreal in the top of the third. With his team trailing 1-0, Kettle took a fastball from Matt Schmid and stroked the home run to right-center. His 3rd home run of the season allowed the Canadiens to leap in front, 3-1.

Montreal manager said his team played a "no nonsense" game.
