Hendrix Leads Royals to 5-3 Win Over Canadiens
|
The Montreal Royals beat the Montreal Canadiens, 5-3, at Turtles Ballpark. The Royals got a fine performance from right fielder Brian Hendrix, who was 3-3 with a home run, 2 doubles, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 4. Jose Perez, who is tied for 2nd in the SC with a 1.85 ERA, was the winner. He's now 5-2. The loser was Chris Nagel. Vince Rice picked up the save, his 3rd.
Hendrix contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Montreal in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 3-2, Hendrix took a fastball from Chris Nagel and stroked the home run to left. His 9th home run of the season allowed the Royals to leap in front, 5-3.
"Anytime you're seeing it well, it's a good feeling," Hendrix told the Montreal News.
By defeating Montreal, the first-place Royals improved to 45-22.
