Governors Suffer 6-1 Home Defeat
|
The Chesapeake Tailgators topped the Little Rock Governors, 6-1, in Stars Conference action at Ballpark of Newport News. The standout performance belonged to Chesapeake pitcher and Albany, New York, native Chris Mueller. The winner was Mueller. He threw 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball. The loser was Brian Norfolk. The Tailgators, at 28-38, inhabit 5th place in the Stars Conference East Division.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Jason Leuci? The Chesapeake right fielder had a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Tailgators on top, 2-0. For the game, Leuci had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Leuci.
